Roald Dahl Novel Study Overview and Assignments
On this page you will have the assignments which you must complete relating to your book. Remember everyone is working on different books, but you all have the same assignments to do, and they are all due on the same day. Remember if you think that you will not be able to complete one of your assignments by the due date, please come and see me BEFORE it is due, not the day you are meant to give it to me!
If for whatever reasons we need to change the date that the assignment is due (ASC site visits ect), you will have heaps of notice.
Essay One.
Describe one important event in the text, and explain why it is significant to the story (to the plot, to the characters, to the ideas of the book).
This essay will be due by Friday of Week Four this term. It should be a five paragraph essay (intro, the body paragraphs, and a conclusion) which uses the text to support your answers. You DO NOT have to have finished the book for this essay, you are meant to pick an important even which is at the beginning of the story! You will have time to discuss this question with your group, but there will not be time assigned in class for you to actually write it (you may of course use your independent study time to work on it if you would like).
The Missing Chapter Assignment.
Your final assignment is a creative writing task. Click HERE to get the assignment details.
This assignment will be due by Friday of Week Ten this term (the last day of school for the term!). You will have time to discuss this question with your group, but there will not be time assigned in class for you to actually write it (you may of course use your independent study time to work on it if you would like).
